Album review by; Kayleigh

L.A. Cobra's next album 'Superstition' is a fast, 80's glam inspired piece that delivers catchy chorus's, striking guitar solos and thundering drums that will have any rock lover feeling like they are transported back in time.

'Superstition' from L.A. Cobra will be released on the 24th of June via Crusader Records and was mixed, mastered and produced by Martin Sweet (Crashdiet). This will be the sleaze/glam rockers fourth studio album and continues the groups 80's glam revival sound. Being largely influenced by artists such as Motley Crue, Guns N Roses, WASP and Skid Row it's no wonder these guys are all about girls, Harley's, big hair and having a good time, and this is clearly reflected within their music making me as a listener really feel like I have stepped back in time.

The 10-track album opens up with 'Strange Desires' which is a personal favourite of mine. Instantly I heard influences of artists like Motley Crue but I feel as though L.A. Cobra has this sort of darker edge to their sound and a little bit of a more serious tone lyrically. Even though I may think of them being a bit more on the serious side that doesn't stop songs such as 'Strange Desires' being really catchy and fun to listen to. Having this as the opening song very quickly drew me into this new album and compared to previous work I have listened to by L.A. Cobra I was already hearing something that I knew I was going to be enjoying more.

L.A Cobra may take a lot of their influence from artists from another generation but they also incorporate a modern twist into their song writing. I think this is especially seen in the track 'Chemical Dependency' which is another one I really enjoyed. This song to me feels like an explosion from the beginning, it gets you excited and ready for the moment when it hits you with everything it's got. 'Chemical Dependency' is another one that I think is really catchy, much like most of this album and I personally really liked the little riff that welcomes you into the song and how it felt a little more modern than anything else on the but still blends into L.A. Cobra's sound.

'Superstition' is an album I did really enjoy listening too and as someone who is a big fan of glam rock music from the 80's it's really cool to see a band bringing that sound back. However, I do think there were moments, not many but a few within 'Superstition' where it felt almost as though it was lacking just a little bit of something, a little bit more fire. I found this to be especially true for tracks such as, 'The Star' which honestly was a little bit too cheesy for me and also 'Inferno' which nearing the end of 'Superstition' I just thought started to feel a little same old. I think for any fan of the glam rock genre this is definitely an album that's worth checking out as there are in my opinion some really great tracks on there but sadly for me there were also a couple of tracks that let the whole experience down.
