The City Kids - Filth

Album review by; trundmyster

This four-piece band hailing from the Northeast have seriously raised the bar on this album from their last one 'Things That Never Were'.

This ten-song album is gritty and fast paced right from the first chord and does not let up through the entirety of the album from the first song 'Filth' to the last one 'Yesterday'.

The album kicks off with a thumping bass line that hits you like a baseball bat to the head, great drums and amazing guitar riffs and the deep gravelled voice of singer JJ Watt, you can't help think to yourself that you hope the whole album is going to be like this and the answer to that would be a "Hell yea it is"!!!!!!!

Songs like 'Alone' and 'It Should Of Been You' carry on the theme of this hard-hitting album not slowing down the tempo at all.

The song 'Heartbreak' is only a little bit slower, but still loud and raucous and does not disappoint.

My favourite song on the album is 'Scars'. This song is just plain fast and furious and when played live I can just imagine the crowd going completely nuts.

The last few remaining songs are amazing as well, not letting up with the ferociousness of the previous songs on this album down once.

Overall, this is a great sounding album and with all the songs being fast paced if you need to let off some steam, then this is the one to do it to.

Everything on this album has had the dial turned up to 12 and it all sounds amazing.

This album is pure down and dirty punk rock at its finest and The City Kids should be super proud of this album as it has everything needed in a good hard sounding album.
