Album review by; Trundmyster

With all the talent that is coming out of South Wales at the moment, this debut album from rocker Barney Barnett is keeping that tradition going.

Small Stones is a good toe tapping and head nodding album from start to finish. The opening track “Prima Donna” is a great choice with its infectious riff and saxophone solo sets it up for a really good album.

The upbeat songs on this album like “More Whisky” and “Live this Way” have what it takes to get the air guitar in you going with its classic rock sound and good vibe. The saxophone plays a big part in this album, which works really well on all incorporated songs and makes the listening experience more pleasurable.

The more easy listening songs like “Pure “ and “Wonderlust” are all still equally amazing, but slowed down enough not to be ballads, but just pure feel good songs that still give you that feeling of euphoria.

Overall this album has been put together with precision to make sure that all instruments compliment each other very well along with Barney’s voice that makes it an even better experience.

Barney and his band mates Dan Gribble and Gethin Lock should be super proud with the album and it’s one that I will be listening to many times, especially on a cold rainy day looking out my window to give me that lift I need to make me feel better, because that is what this album is…. a feel good one that gives out a great vibe.

Seeing Barney Barnett performing these songs live will be a great night out making you feel good all the way home.
