Backyard Babies

Interview by; Diane D

1) You’re celebrating your 30th anniversary this year. Back in 1989, did you ever that you would still be going strong in 2019?

I think we thought that THIS is what we´re gonna do for the rest of our lives , so yes in way :)

2) You’ve been labelled as Punk Rock, Hard Rock and Metal. How would you describe the Backyard Babies style of music?

Punkrock, Hardrock and Metal

3) The band had a break from around 2009 to 2014 - do you think this helped you to return more refreshed?

Yes ,very much. It was without a doubt the best thing that could have happened (since it was my idea, ha ha). We all gained new respect for our work and as people. We we´re running on fumes before that and that can only lead to one thing.

4) Your new single is ’Good Morning Midnight'. It’s a great title! What’s the meaning behind the song and title too?

Dregen has been steeping up as a lyricist on this record and on GMM he´s dealing with insomnia, demons but still hopeful cuz we got something worth fighting and living for.

5) How do you compose new material / songs. Do you all contribute or is there a main songwriter within the band?

On THIS record me, Peder, and Dregen wrote everything together with a little help from a few co-writers.

6) The new album ‘Silver and Gold’ is due out on 01 March. Are you going to come back to the UK again in 2019 to promote it? We would love to see you do a headline tour!

YES, late 2019

7) After the sound check, there’s a few hours to spare before show time - how do you prepare yourselves before a concert?

Being quiet, sleep, drink lots of tea, have dinner with my girlfriend who travels with me all the time, thank GOD, and get dressed and do a little vocal warm up.

8) Over the years you have supported some of the best including, Alice Cooper, AC/DC, Motorhead, and more! What’s the craziest thing you have done or seen on tour?

Tryin to help Angus wife tell Angus he needs to eat more than white bread before the show.

9) We loved seeing you at Hard Rock Hell in Sheffield last year! Do you prefer playing festivals or smaller shows?

I like all gigs, like I think the audience also like all gigs…its good with a different feel.

10) After all these years, you must know each other really well. Do you hang out in Sweden together or only meet up as a band?

We like and know each other enough and have our own lives and rarely hang out when not working… and that is THE main reason why we´re still the same band today.

Thanks for your time got, best of luck with the new album and European tour, hope to catch up with you again soon! – Diane D
