SKAM – Intra

Leicester’s finest power trio are gearing up to release new studio material for the first since 2017’s daring but brilliant concept album ‘The Amazing Memoirs of Geoffery Goddard’. Intra will be made up of two 6 track EPs, the second to be released at a later date yet to be announced.
Starting off with ‘Green Eyes’ complete with catchy riff and thunderous drums from the aptly nicknamed Neal ‘The Hammer’ Hill backed up by the pounding bass of Matt Gilmore. This is a very familiar tune as it has been out a while as the lead track and has been played live at both online and socially distanced gigs.
SKAM have a distinct style and sound easily recognisable courtesy of Steve Hill’s vocal delivery.
Next is ‘Wake Up’ another great number with some great harmonies, a repeat feature throughout, before we get the dark and disturbing ‘One Track Mind’ with the addition of a tasty cameo from The Answer’s Paul Mahon.

‘How Many Times’ with its headlong charge hints of the Foo Fighters before ‘Fight the Fire’ keeps the pace going with no let-up in quality with a great chorus that will no doubt become a live favourite. ‘On the Run’ finishes the EP off far too soon, with another quality track. The only complaint is that we only get the six tunes but to compensate SKAM deliver all killer and no filler with their distinctive brand of intelligent heavy rock.
It’s hard to believe that they are just a trio producing all that noise, roll on the return live gigs as this will all sound even better up close and personal. For now we can get a bit of a fix with the fortnightly SKAM Monday’s brought to you live from Steve’s kitchen.
