One band that hasn’t been idle during lockdown is Empyre, in fact, they have been exceptionally busy. Apart from keeping us occupied with their 12 days of Empyre, a mixture of activities for Advent, they have been releasing acoustic singles from the 2019 album ’Self Aware’.
I first saw them live when they played on the Daxx & Roxane tour, just before the first lockdown in March 2020 and loved their unique style and the ambience they created on stage.
A second album is in the making, but due to Covid there may be a delay in its release. So in the meantime, the Northampton based guys have re-worked 4 songs, ‘Only Way Out’ is piano based, ‘Drive’ is stripped back with simple guitar. ‘Just A Ride’ in acoustic form, has vocals from Henrik that are soothing to the ear and ‘Cut To The Core’ punches the air, even in acoustic mode.
Even the pieces of artwork by Michele Ann Art , one for each single, are striking. A 5th in the series, ’Stone’ will be released on 12th February.
