Hello Guys, it was lovely to meet you on your recent tour with Gin Annie, thank you for agreeing to answer a few questions!

MP: You’re welcome, it was a great tour!! Our first time in the UK, but definitely not the last!

You are all well known on the Danish Metal scene, how did you get together to form STATEMENT?

MP: Jannick and Niels knew each other from way back, and had talked about doing a song or 2 together, but it wasn’t until Niels’ old band PILGRIMZ split up, that he called Jannick and said ; Okay, let’s do this! So they met up at Jannicks place and jammed some tunes. When they had a couple of songs, they needed a bass player and Jannick knew I played bass, so they gave me a call and after hearing the 2 first songs they’d demoed, I was instantly on board!! I brought in Christopher, who was the bands first rhythm guitarist with me and that was the line-up for the MONSTERS album!

All of you are known for playing Extreme Metal in Denmark, STATEMENT are more Hard Rock, was it an easy decision to change direction ?

MP: Yeah, I kinda think it was. After so many years playing Hardcore, Black metal and Death metal, it just felt right, to go back to the roots and play something similar to the stuff we started out listening to! We still love the hard stuff and who knows – maybe we’ll do a couple of metal songs at some point, under a different name!?

Who were your main influences when you were starting out?

MP: Guns n Roses, Metallica, Megadeth, Ugly Kid Joe, Pantara, Sepultura – all the great stuff from the 80’s and early 90’s! As a bassplayer, I’m heavily influenced by Jason Newsted, Cliff Burton, Dave Ellefson and of course Lemmy!

Did you enjoy your recent tour of the UK with Gin Annie, are you friends for life now?

MP: Yes all across the board! They are such nice guys – we just love hanging out and gigging with them! We’re really hoping to put another tour together with them and this time extending it across Europe.

Any memorable moments on the tour you care to tell us about?

MP: The whole tour was just one amazing moment!! Seeing the beautiful landscapes, meeting so many awesome people at every gig – I mean, it’s just been great all the way through!

I think everyone loves your version of 'California Dreamin', what made you choose that song?

JB: It was Niels and I we grew up with this song playing from our parents speakers so we tried one day after a rehearsal to do a pre recording and then we just knew it had to be that song.

The new album Force Of Life is out now, the artwork is brilliant, who designed it?

JB: It’s a guy from Brazil Jobert Mello from sledgehammer Graphix we are so over the moon about the artwork.

I know a lot of new UK fans would love to see you come back, any plans to tour again soon?

MP: definitely!! We’re gonna start booking in a few weeks, so keep an eye on our facebook page!

Any particular bands you enjoy listening to at the moment?

MP: At the moment, I listen to a lot of Motörhead – but to be fair, that’s not changed a lot the last 10 years haha other than that, Ghost is in heavy rotation, Pantera as well, and a band called The Native Howl, which is a pretty cool mix of trash metal and bluegrass!

JB: I am into a Lamb Of God period right now for me they are awesome and of course a lot Metallica.

If you could support any band, past or present on tour, who would you choose?

MP: I would have loved to support Motörhead on a tour – that would have blown my mind!!

JB: i would say Metallica no doubt.

Thank you again for taking the time to chat, good luck with the new album and hope to meet up with you guys again soon.
