Surprisingly quiet in here tonight, two excellent bands are playing that quite frankly, deserve a better turnout. BIGFOOT have been around since 2014 and have recently announced that they are calling it a day, however, they are out this month with THE TREATMENT for a handful of gigs, starting tonight. The headliners are enjoying their recent rise in popularity, the success of the new album ‘Power Crazy’ has given them a massive boost.

So all the way from Wigan, Bigfoot are counting the days, everyone was saddened at the decision to put the band to bed, so I am hoping they bow out in style. With Sean Seabrook on vocals they will honour all bookings and a farewell tour is planned later this year. ‘Tell Me A Lie’ is the first up, a staunch rocker to get us warmed up, ‘Run’ from the 2016 Stone Soldiers EP, is more cool on the vocals, with a stunning solo from Sam Millar on his Gibson. Next a dose of numbers, from the self titled 2017 album, ’Prisoners Of War’ , ‘FreakShow’ ‘Forever Alone’ and ‘The Fear’. The mix of these beauties demonstrates the quality of that LP and the amazing playing ability of the guys. The twin guitars of Millar and Mick McCullagh, are so in touch with each other and Tom Aspinall on drums is a little powerhouse. ‘Blame It On The Dog’ sees Sean and Co, getting some audience participation, slowing it down and Matt Avery adding some funky bass ‘Extreme’ style. The last song ‘Uninvited’ is by no means a placid exit.

Bigfoot rocked it up tonight and played a brilliant set, a few watery eyes among the audience as they left the stage.

The sound is extremely loud, even for my well accustomed ears. I see large deposits of dust fall from the ceiling, dislodged by the high volume as The Treatment get under way with ‘Hang Them High’ and the Infectious ‘Let’s Get Dirty’.  In a Bon Scott vein, singer Tom Rampton has a voice that is becoming instantly recognisable. The set is rammed with tracks from the new album, which is stunningly dangerous. ‘Let It Begin’ and the more sleaze ridden ‘The Doctor’ are older numbers, but still stick like gum to your boots. Ok, our ears are ringing but we are rocking, ’On The Money’ adds some more dirty licks with Tagore and Tao Grey on guitars, strutting around in full glory. ‘Bite Back’ with its hitting repetitive backing vocals, is a masterclass of how to impress in AC/DC fashion. The latest single ‘Luck Of The Draw’ is 12 bar blues, slung low chords and an adorable anthem. Check out their video for this one, it’s fabulous.

‘I Bleed R n R’ fires us up again with its chorus getting everyone shouting along, before we return to Power Crazy, songs ‘Laying It Down’ and ‘Scar with Her Name’. The band look so cool up there, so much energy and a delight to watch, they are never stationary, so it’s a task keeping up with them! ‘Emergency’ with its pounding drums, delivered by Dhani Mansworth, brings the main menu to a close.

They return to provide an encore with ‘Get The Party On’ and the massive ’Shake The Mountain’. High vocals, 2 guitars that are totally compatible, solidifying drums and Rick ’Swoggle’ Newman on bass who holds the fort together. One of my favourites to watch, a gem of a band.
