Lucer - L.A. Collection

Kicking off with ‘Make My Getaway’ you are immediately transported back to the late seventies, with a classic hard rock sound including superb backing vocals adding great harmonies, crunching riffs, squealing guitars and a lead vocalist with panache for great delivery. This bodes well for the rest of the album and with the second track ‘Living On The Line’ they don’t disappoint with a slower intro building into what could be a lost AC/DC track and that is meant as a massive compliment.

The AC/DC comparatives continue with the faster paced ‘Roll The Dice’ and then the slightly slower ‘Vintage Rock ’n’ Roll’ with the backing vocals on both brilliantly mixed in to enhance the songs. Despite the comparisons which continue with ‘Dead Man’s Walk’ the sound is in no way dated, it sounds fresh and with loads of energy. ‘Dirty Job’ gives the listener more in the same vein but it’s a rich vein of high quality rock.

The press release perfectly describes Lucer as ‘a hi-octane rock band paying tribute to the old days’ and on L.A. Collection they absolutely nail it.
​
Another up tempo number ‘Straight To The Bone’ is followed by ‘Stabbed In The Kneecap’ both encourage you to let your hair down and boogie. Then it’s all over too soon with the final track ‘Out Of Touch’ but it gives me an opportunity albeit brief to catch my breath before I hit repeat.

There is absolutely no filler on this album and I will be eagerly looking out for any UK tour news.

It deserves more, a contender for my album of the year already 5/5.

Nine songs released on black vinyl, the two first singles "Make My Getaway" and “Roll The Dice" released in Spring 2021, before the album release on black vinyl takes place on the 30th of July.
