Twister – Cursed and Corrected

The album starts off with ‘We Are The Cursed & Corrected’ a dramatic slow build keyboard intro before the drum beat kicks in followed by guitars and then the whole band joins in as it neatly segues into the second track ‘Save Us Yourself’ with its big chorus and sprinkling of keyboards setting the scene for what is to follow.

Next up is ‘Young & Affected’ with another anthemic big chorus, nice melodies and a great driving riff. ‘Natural Survivor’ with another catchy riff and harmonies continues the pop tinged rock as does ‘Trees’ but with added sing along chorus.

‘Wild & Lonely (Fingers Crossed)’ slows it down a bit but still manages to include a huge chorus with soaring melodies. ‘Trading Hearts’ similar to the previous number has slower elements as it rises and falls with a memorable riff and more great harmonies, this is a really likable tune and a definite earworm.

‘Call to Arms’ is going to be a big number when performed live with another rousing sing along chorus. ‘Mystery’ slows things right down and is a much more reflective number, with keyboards and some great harmonising used to great effect, showing off the bands versatility before we’re back to the pop tinged catchy sing along chorus of ‘Feeding Frenzy’.

‘Monroe’ slows it down again but builds into the chorus before ebbing for the next verse, then building back up again.

 

My favourite track is ’Fist Fight At The Waterside’ which will no doubt be a crowd pleaser with a great driving riff, catchy chorus that would be at home in a big stadium show.

Last up is ‘64 White Lies’ which is another slower number with a powerful chorus.

 

Twister have a clear identity of their own, with the overall sound a bit reminiscent of early millennium Bullet for My Valentine with a clear pop element making it radio friendly. Memorable riffs, sublime harmonies and huge choruses are here in abundance, an impressive 4/5.
