Blitz - Welcome To The Rock Show
Review by; Tuesday

Blitz will add spark to any rockers music collection:

'They can't take our rock n' roll' is a line from I Believe, the opening track on Blitz' new album Welcome To The Rock Show.  It's a powerful opener reminiscent of Kiss and The Quireboys.  Rock City Nights sounds like an ode to an old flame, a nod to their hometown of Nottingham's Rock city and a reference to Kiss all wrapped up with a melodic solo.  It's a perfect piece.

All their songs seem to have lovely illustrative narrative as well as a big rock sound.  Miss America is no exception, it's a joy.  'I Don't Love You No More' - every big rock band has their version of a breakup song.  It's a chance to show off those aching guitar licks, thoughtful drum rolls and big vocal rasps.

Love Is War is a great example of all of these things and fans of Skid Row in particular will be loving this track.  Rock Me has one of those infectious dirty bass lines like Alannah Myles' Black velvet and a fab chanty chorus.  We're heavily dropping names of the best rockers and we've got an Enuff Z' Nuff style bass line and a bit of Whitesnake style vocal projection on Queen Of The Night.  It's a hit for sure.

Don't Look Back is more of the same great riffs, melodic soloing and full musical references to our favourite big names, this one also has a bit of a Crüe rhythm.  It's tasty stuff.  Only The Strong Survive is brilliant driving rock.  They might be from Nottingham rock city, but this track makes you want to jump in your car and drive to LA!

Falling Down is less raspy and works just as well and is full of sweet drum rolls, the rhythm section is working overtime.  There's also a sing along na, na, na, na to get your vocals in tune.

Another World Away has a good flow to it.  It's a tidy piece and a great one to sing to.  Just the opening chant on Born To Rock and the chugging bass and rhythm guitar hooks you in.  That's it you're singing along from the initial second.  It's a great closer because it's a satisfying piece and contains a little bit of all the positives this album has to seal the deal with your ears.

This album is very reminiscent of the 80's American rock genre.  Many have tried to replicate it since and it doesn't always work, but here it does.

They've resurrected it but with their own songs and they've done it well and that's why it earns 4/5*
