Eric Jayk of Wildstreet

Interview with; DeeDee

Hi Eric, nice to catch up with you, hope you are ok & thank you for taking time to chat.

Thank you for asking me! You rock!!

Firstly Wildstreet are really flying at the moment, you have a load of gigs lined up, how does it feel to be going on the road again?

It’s awesome! There is nothing like live music ... I stand by all of our recordings but Wildstreet live is another world!

Have you played any live gigs recently?

Yes, we kicked off post-pandemic concerts in February at Bar XII Delaware. We rocked with plexiglass over the stage (a similar experience to Bowery Electric in NYC 3 months later). We toured the Midwest in April and the South in June! We head out for 4+ weeks July 7th including Rockfest in Wisconsin. This tour has been planned for over a year!

How did you keep yourself busy this last year or so?

I did ashtanga yoga every day, rode my bicycle around Brooklyn, wrote songs and collaborated with others. I did a song called ‘Lady Danger’ with Minefield, ‘All I Wanna Do is Rock’ with Ghosts Of Sunset and more. A song I did totally outside of Hard Rock is with a French singer/songwriter Bliss My Heart. The song, ‘Reason to Dust’ will be out worldwide July 23rd. It’s awesome. Jimmie and I wrote and demo’d more Wildstreet songs as well!

Are there more gigs lined up for Europe?

We would love to see you in the UK soon, any plans to visit us?

We come to Europe 10/7 for Swiss Rock Cruise, we’re trying to setup a month long tour and do dates with our label mates King Zebra. If those who read this are interested they should contact our Europe booking agency ‘No Name Agency.

We’re in the UK in March at HRH Spring Break! Can’t wait!

June 25th sees the release of Wildstreet III, what can fans expect from the new album?

To understand what we know Wildstreet to be and they have not understood. It’s been hard to keep silent, or smirk while people thought we were the same band we were in 2013. Now we can be Wildstreet.

Who do you enlist to produce such vivid artwork for your album covers and merchandise?

Andrew Tremblay and Adam Carini provide the visuals. They do the artwork and merch designs. They are amazing!

Do you think in 10 years time we will be listening to an album titled Wildstreet XV?

I hope, more like Wildstreet VII at the pace we work & with our tour schedule!

I loved the recent press photos on and around the bridge in New York, was it Brooklyn Bridge?

Did it all go to plan?

It was a different bridge in Brooklyn.  Our friend Max Bello has a great eye for the band.. he brings out the unique personality of all of us... he did a fantastic job, rather extraordinarily amazing job at this shoot. We were close to deadline and he killed it for us!

When I look at your social pages you are always so busy, how do you relax and switch off, or are you a 24/7 party animal?

Not a party animal per se, I care about playing our music and about our band getting where we belong, I’ll relax one day. I just wanna rock the world and bring Wildstreet to our fans everywhere.

Do you have any messages for your fans and our readers?

Thank you for your support & love for so many years! You’re the best ever!

Thank you again Eric, good luck with everything and hope all goes well with the tour.
