Grandma Loves Rock goes to see Blackberry Smoke in London.

Grandma got a wonderful surprise from her hubby with a ticket to see BlackBerry Smoke in the Eventim Apollo.

The Eventim Apollo is an amazing place to hold music events, the staff are friendly and organised, getting in for me with medical issues was easy and I felt very supported in attending.

You can see the amazing building’s history everywhere, Grandma loves buildings with history, and the architecture was superb.  Hubby informed Grandma that the building was previously called Hammersmith Odeon or Hammersmith Apollo.

Normally when we go to London, we go by train straight into London King’s cross but yesterday we had to change trains, we only live an hour away by train and it should be a simple one train trip into London. I don’t know what is going on at the moment but the train service is not making it easy to go to London to see bands.

We had issues going back home and the trains were very overcrowded and delayed. If we hadn’t caught the train we did, we would have ended up starting our journey on a train and then being put on buses to finish the trip, adding a considerable amount of time.

Grandma’s not impressed and would really like the railway service to make going to London for fun at the weekend more convenient and less stressful.

Now back to what Grandma did enjoy!

The first band on was Bones Owens and they got the party started, hubby was standing at the barriers (his favourite place to get photos) and Grandma was sitting in the heavens and the sound was amazing. Grandma loved the singer’s vocals and could not fault the performance in any way.  Grandma would definitely see them again.  Grandma is adding ‘I’ll Rise’ to her playlist.

The main group that Grandma went to see was Blackberry Smoke and   Grandma was so excited, she was not disappointed.

They played for over two hours and Grandma had a wonderful experience.

Grandma has a sore throat this morning from all the singing, Grandma was sat next to a lovely couple and the Gentleman sitting two seats away also had an amazing voice, Grandma thought he should be a singer in a band, if he is and Grandma didn’t recognise this, she apologies to him lol!!

Even with all the issues with travel Grandma had an amazing time and will definitely like to see them again when they return to the UK. Let's hope it’s not too long before they are back. Grandma also brought a tour t-shirt and that was an easy process as well.

Grandma’s next concert is next Saturday and is The Dead Daisies at The O2 Shepherds Bush Empire, let’s hope the trains are better.
